Before the Interview – PREPARATION
Interview Objective How do you ENSURE success? - Do your research, arrive EARLY and be flexible.
What type of Research? - Company – Website, Internet, FT, Newspapers
- Colleagues – Find out what products they work with, who their main competitors are, where they stand in the market and plans for expansion?
Travel Plans - Where are you going? How will you get there? Allow time for delays.
Job Description - What are the key skills and how can you emphasize that you have them?
- Do you have examples and proof of your abilities?
- What is your motivation for the role / company?
- Remember flattery goes a long way!
What concerns might they have about you? - Have you moved around a lot in your past? Turn this around explain you have therefore gained experience in a variety of disciplines and you are now making an informed decision to settle down.
- Reason for leaving your last job? Redundancy, New opportunities? Remember not to focus on money!
Flexibility - Rarely is any job a perfect fit, approach the interview with an open mind, be flexible in what you are looking for and gear your responses specifically to interview at hand.
- The more offers you receive the greater your choice and therefore the better the chances of improving your career.
