Growth predicted by software and IT services sector

A survey conducted by Intellect, the UK technology trade body has found that 53% of SMEs in the IT sector forecast double-digit growth for 2008 compared to 49% that predicted double-digit growth last year.

IT SKILLS DEMANDED!

Demand for skilled IT workers has reached a six-year high and is predicted to boom in 2008 with growth rates of between 6 and 10 per cent and weekly salaries increasing by an average of £100, according to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).

IT skills are still undervalued in the boardroom

One year on from the Leitch Review, the survey found that business leaders still view IT as a key skill that is more relevant to future generations than those currently in employment. Skills such as team working and problem solving are seen as more important.
