| A survey conducted by Intellect, the UK technology trade body has found that 53% of SMEs in the IT sector forecast double-digit growth for 2008 compared to 49% that predicted double-digit growth last year. |

| Demand for skilled IT workers has reached a six-year high and is predicted to boom in 2008 with growth rates of between 6 and 10 per cent and weekly salaries increasing by an average of £100, according to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).

| One year on from the Leitch Review, the survey found that business leaders still view IT as a key skill that is more relevant to future generations than those currently in employment. Skills such as team working and problem solving are seen as more important.
